Abstract

Seventy serum samples of negative or false positive cases in the tuberculin skin test with I: 2,000 OT were examined with the passive hemagglutination technique by Middlebrook & Dubos and the hemolytic test by Shindo & Middlebrook and PS (thought to be mainly composed of polysaccharide fraction) and Fr.II (mixture of both tuberculoprotein and tuberculopolysaccharide) were used as the antigen. Nineteen samples (27.1%) of them were proved to be positive in the passive hemagglutination and 13 samples (18.5%) reacted positively in the hemolytic test, though they were negative or false positive reading in the skin test. Furthermore, it was shown that Fr.II was more sensitive in the tests as the antigen than PS.
