Abstract
Present paper was studied relationship between complement system and cell-mediated system in the course of ageing. Six hundred and twenteen healthy subjects ranged from 10 to 94 years old were investigated, and the following results were obtained. The complement levels remain in elevated or normal ranges when cell-mediated immunity is depressed in the course of ageing. These phenomenon were explained that the complement system is elevated to compensate the impaired cell-mediated system to prevent the immunological surveillance system.
