Description

The virulence to mice and guinea-pigs of 43 strains of tubercle bacilli isolated from Japanese tuberculous patients were reported in the previous papers. Ten strains out of 43. were highly virulent to mice as well as to guinea-pigs (Group A). Three strains were moderately virulent to mice and highly virulent to guinea-pigs (Group B). Twelve strains had moderate virulence to both animals (Group C). Three strains were moderate to miceand low to guinea-pigs (Group D). Five strains had low virulence to mice and moderate virulence to guinea-pigs (Group E). And, ten strains of bacilli showed low virulence to both animals (Group F).
