Abstract

Virulence to mice and guinea-pigs of tubercle bacilli newly isolated from 43 Japanese tuberculous patients was reported previously. Virulence of these strains was not identical each other: many strains showed high or moderate virulence to mice and guinea-pigs, but some strains showed low virulence. To confirm the results of the previous experiments, and to observe the difference of tuberculous changes induced by heat-killed tubercle bacilli with different degrees of virulence, the following experiments were performed. In addition, the method evaluating the murine tuberculous changes with specific lung weight was discussed in this paper.
