Description

Chemotherapeutic effects of INH alone and four-drug regimen of SM⋅INH⋅PAS⋅EB to Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv were evaluated in vitro by changing the incubating temperature at 37°C, 25°C and 4°C.
Comparing the results obtain e d at 25°C and 4°C with those at 37°C, the chemotherapeutic effects were remarkably lowered in the latter even in the four-drug regimen and the development of drug-resistance to INH was not observed in such an inadequate condition for the growth of tubercle bacilli.
According to these results, it is almost impossible to intensify the antituberculosis chemotherapeutic effect under the condition inadequate for the growth of tubercle bacilli in vitro.
