A 29-year-old female who has been surffering from athetotic cerebral palsy caused by meningitis developed in four-month-old was inspirated erroneously a piece of a black soy-bean in her air way. Bronchoscopy was carried out under the general anesthesia using ventilation bronchoscope (0.7×40cm) for removal. This procedure was done unsuccessfully because the foreign body could not be detected in the bronchoscopically visible area, and unexpectedly, a tumorous swelling of the posterior bronchial wall was found at the distal end of the intermediate bronchus, blocking up the passage of bronchoscope to distal bronchi.<BR>On the chest tomogram, evident pneumothorax was found in the right lower field and marked shadow was seen extending from the right hilus to the right lower lung field. These bronchoscopic and chest x-ray findings led us to think that the foreign body might be inspirated into the distal bronchus beyond the tumorous swelling. The foreign body was spontaniously expectrated out 30 days after the erroneous inspiration, and the histological examination of the biopsy taken from the tumorous swelling revealed bronchial adenoma (carcinoid type). However, symptomatically and clinically, no active sign of tumor appeared during a period of one year followed up.
