抄録

During the past six years from 1958 to 1963, we treated 155 cases of the carcinoma of larynx with radiotherapy. The cases were discussed in terms of the preoperative irradiation and the post-irradiation operation.<br>1) The source of radiation was chiefly telecobalt 60, and the usual dosage was 6000 to 7000r in 4 to 5 weeks.<br>2) Radiotherapy was applied to the glottic type (T1NO and a part of T2NO), the supraglottic type (T1NO) and the early marginal type.<br>3) The radiotherapy was successful in 75% for glottic type and 50% for supraglottic type. When the radiotherapy was combined with operation, the rate of success was raised to 95% in glottic type and 83% in supragottic type.<br>4) Radiotherapy was the first choice for the early cases of the carcinoma of larynx. When it failed, surgical treatment was instituted.<br>5) As the preoperative irradiation, 3500r was given to the cases which had advanced to marginal type from supragottic type.<br>6) Operation became difficalt when the field had been irradiated with a large dosage.
