抄録

For one-path-type and self-heat-exchanger-type reaction chambers, a mathematical method to determine simultaneously the surface areas of heat transmission and the temperature at the entrance which gives a certain yield of the desired product with a minimum quantity of catalyst is discussed.<BR>The differential equations to give the compositions of the reacting gas and the temperature at every point in each path are first set up. Those equations can be solved if the catalyst quantity, surface areas of the heat transmission between each path and the entrance tempera ture is given, and the distribution of the composition and the temperature in each path is calculated.<BR>As the yield is calculated from the value of value of composition at the exit for a set of values of surface areas of heat transmission and the entrance temperature, the quantity of catalyst which is required to obtain a certain given yield becomes known.<BR>Thus by changing the values of surface areas of heat transmition and the entrance temperature, those values which minimize the catalyst quantity can be determined.
