抄録

The carbide milling cutter reveals the heat crack due to heating and cooling action during the cutting process. In order to explain this phenomenon clearly, it is necessary to know exactly the variation of the temperature of a cutter. In the present research, we employed the cutter-constantan thermocouple method, and estimated the temperature rise on the cutting edge. With this method, we could obtain the temperature distribution on the cutting edge, as well as the range of the temperature variation.
