抄録

On the pitting of power transmitting gears, though many studies were made and much of its cause were revealed, and yet many questions seem to be left still unanswered. In this paper, the authors examined the pitting of helical gears, made of Cr-Mo steel with comparatively large module, by employing a gear endurande testing machine of power circulating type. Thus various characteristics of gears, such as pitting, crack, work hardening and plastic flow have been clarified.
