抄録

Annealed 0.25% and 0.15% carbon steel specimens were tested in the city water under various stress amplitude in rotary bending for various times at each stress amplitude, and then subjected to fatigue test in air under a stress which exceeds the endurance limit by about 22%. The shortening of the life was calculated as a measure of the damage caused by the corrosion fatigue. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The progress of damage is expressed by an empirical formula shown below [numerical formula] where D : damage t : time of corrosion fatigue a, b, c : constants 2. Lives of specimens under corrosion fatigue are expressed as [numerical formula] where t : time to fracture σ : stress amplitude a0, a1, b0, m : constants.3. further, the effect of load cycle in corrosion fatigue was discussed.
