Abstract
The experiments were made on a rdial air turbine which was designed on the assumption that the outlet axial velocity is constant. Beside the usual measurements of pressures and temperatures, the flow was observed by a precise yaw-meter survey at several points of the machine. In addition to these studies, the change of performance characteristic was ascertained on several nozzle setting angles. The following results were obtained : (i) The loss and its' coefficient of each part of the turbine, and their dependence on the r.p.m. were clarified. (ii) The profitable performance characteristic of the radial turbine was testified, which demonstrates by means of a movable nozzle the possibility that, this type of machine is able to match with a wide variation of flow mass with a very slight decrease in its efficiency.
