Abstract
Injection quantity varies cyclically at certain operating conditions of a specific Bosch fuel injection system of injection pump and nozzles, as the consequence of which such abnormality takes place as the residual pressure in the fuel line changes (periodical fluctuations of injection quantity). Self-excited vibrations take place with the nozzle needles during the pump delivery. The motion in which the nozzle needles close completely after the finish of pump delivery varies according to the time when the pump delivery finishes. This results in the above periodical fluctuations of injection quantity. In other words, the injection quantity fluctuates abruptly at the time of the finish of the pump delivery, according to the closing motion of the nozzle needles. A slight time lag of the finish of pump delivery at the fluctuations mentioned above causes difference in injection quantity and the residual pressure accordingly. Therefore, the timing of the finish of pump delivery fluctuates. When the condition [numerical formula] is satisfied at this cycle, the periodical fluctuations of injection quantity take place.
