Abstract

The chatter vibration in turning is studied in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd reports on this subject. In the present report, the nature of the chatter vibration in turning and that in facing are compared. As a result, it was observed that the instability range in cutting speed becomes wider with the decrease of the approach angle and the chatter mark produced in facing differs from that in turning, but the cause of chatter vibration in facing is the same as in the case of turning.
