Description
The authors tried to investigate the corpus luteum and the corpus albicans of the blue white dolphin to accumulate fundamental knowledge on the reproduction. The corpora lutea were classified into four stages by the histological observations. It is proved in this study that the ruptured follicles quickly develop into the corpora lutea (Stage I) and remain their sizes constant throughout the pregnancy (Stage II) . The degeneration begins from the latest period of stage II, then after the parturition (Stage IV) the corpora show rapid regression.<BR>The corpora albicantia were divided into three stages. The corpora albicantia are recognized to be persisting throughout the life. In the process of degeneration, in the Stage III the corpora consist of thick-walled vessels and penetrated ones. The authors observed two types of the corpora albicantia which are the ordinary ones and the translucent ones.
