Description

Hitoshi Ochiai, 2015, ‘Society and Agency’ Sociological Theory and Methods, 30(1), 117-125 has constructed a differential geometric model of the Coleman Boat by expressing social structure as the manifold M, the social structure shift as the coboundary operator δ, reciprocal behavior as the differential form ω, and the reciprocal behavior drift as the exterior differential operator d, demonstrating that the social structure category/macro category C and the reciprocal behavior category/micro category D is equivalent in category theory. This paper demonstrates, building on the above results, that relationship between the social structure shift/the macro shift δ, and the reciprocal behavior shift/the micro drift d is bijective. This is that the methodological collectivist functor F from C to D and the methodological individualist functor G from D to C is adjoint.
