説明
It is reported that intensive lifestyle intervention in subjects with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) can delay the onset of diabetes mellitus. We have retrospectively studied the changes of plasma glucose concentration (PG) and serum insulin concentration (immunoreactive insulin : IRI) in 75 subjects (M63, W12) with IGT and adoption of exercise and walking. There were significant changes in PG from 166 ± 16 mg/dl to 152 ± 35 mg/dl two hours after a 75g oral glucose tolerance test (75gOGTT) (p<0.01). IRI two hours after the 75gOGTT was also significantly changed from 75 ± 45 μU/ml to 67 ± 45 μU/ml (p<0.05). The 12 cases with IGT that developed habits of exercising once /week (walking) should improved PG and IRI. In about 70 per cent of subjects (29 cases) who reported a habit of walking, PG and IRI were also improved. These results show that formation of exercise and walking can relate to improvement PG and IRI in those with IGT and prevention of diabetes mellitus.
