Description

A 56-year-old man had a history of edematous plaques without any symptoms on lower legs over the course of 20 years. He was diagnosed as Grave’s disease and presented to our department on November, 2003. He had thickened, non-pitting plaques with appearance like gyrus on the anterior aspects of both lower legs. A biopsy specimen from the plaque showed the separation of collagen bundles and individual collagen fibers with a large amount of mucin deposits in the dermis, confirming the diagnosis of pretibial myxedema.
