Description

Abstract : We developed a new root canal irrigation method, the ultrasonic aspiration technique (UAT), which is a modification of the INP (irrigation with negative pressure) method of Fukumoto et al. The biggest problem of INP is that its thin aspiration needle very easily becomes clogged with debris. In UAT, the aspiration needle of the INP is vibrated with an ultrasonic unit to prevent such clogging. Ultrasonic vibration was found to be very effective for this purpose.

The efficacy of UAT was evaluated using our evaluation system using permeating light. In our experiment, UAT was the quickest and most effective. We believe this technique is the best root canal irrigation method at present.
