Description

We proposed a visual analog scale (VAS) for the evaluation of itchiness in 1996. Since then, this scale has been used for the evaluation of itchiness in a number of studies, and also applied to clinical trials in which the effectiveness of test drug for itchiness is evaluated. The differences in the degree of itchiness between disease groups could be statistically clarified by a non-parametric method. In this article, we described the details, and summarized the criteria of VAS measurement in relation to the duration, color, and measurement time.
