Description

Many dermatologists have fear of povidone iodine disinfection treatment in atopic dermatitis because of its irritability and allergic sensitization. However, it seems groundless if disinfection of atopic skin lesions is properly performed. First visit patients under 10 years were totally 91 in 2001. Questionnaires were sent to the parents of these children and answers were obtained. The parents gave a very high score evaluation to the effectiveness of the treatment. Parents answered the effectiveness was more eminent in the lesions which were thought to be colonized with more staphylococci than in the lesions with less staphylococci.
