Microscopic examinations were carried out on the features in the morphology of animal fiber scales and the results obtained are summarized as follows. <br> 1. No scale impressions of animal fibers were transformed by treatment with water, alcohol, and ether. <br> 2. No difference in scale impression was observed between fibers of different breeds of the same animal species when the samples were of similar fineness. <br> 3. The scale impressions of various animal fibers were divided in 6 classifications and were also related to the numbers of scales. <br> 4. No relationship existed between the impressions or the numbers of scales and the animal species. The scale impressions were specific for each species.
