Isozymes of goat milk catalase were investigated by DEAE-Sephacel column chromatography and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Catalase activity was found in both cream and skim milk. Catalases were partially purified from each origin. Both catalases were fractionated by DEAE-Sephacel column chromatography into enzymatically active two peaks which were eluted at the concentration of 0.1M NaCl and about 0.15M NaCl by linear NaCl gradient elution. Catalase fractions eluted from DEAE-Sephacel column were examined by polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis. Catalase from cream and skim milk showed the same electrophoretic patterns which have two active bands on a gel at a distance of 8mm and 45mm from the starting point. The results demonstrate that two different types of catalase occur in goat milk.
