Abstract

When retanned chrome pigskin leathers of soft type were manufactured the increased amount (80 PU/g) of enzyme used in bating and the prolonged period (overnight) of bating resulted in softer leathers. A nonionic surfactant used in liming also had facilitated softening leathers to some extent. In the present case of retanned chrome pigskin leather manufacture, the variation in the time of splitting pelt had no significant influence on leather properties.
