Abstract

The Iaboratory experiment has been carried out with the miniature apparatus of the primary treatment of the land application system in order to clarify purification effects of the water treatment agents in the process of primary treatment of the animal waste water. The major objective of the primary treatment is to decrease the load of SS and BOD etc. of animal waste water against soil in the plant cultivation bed which is the main structure of the secondary treatment. The water treatment agents used in the experiment were Rose scumless (RS), diatomaceous earth (DE), ferric chloride (FC), aluminium sulfate (AS), zinc sulfate (ZS), fly ash, ferric sulfate (FS) and poly aluminium chloride (PAC). The results obtained were as follows; 1) Excellent water purification effects were found in FC for percentage of transparency, in FC and AS for BOD, RS, DE and FC for SS, in FC for COD, in RS for E. coli. These of FC, AS, ZS, FS and PAC were superior to the others for purifying TP, and similarly FC and AS surpass others for TN. 2) Considering these results and the fact that special importance of purifying SS and BOD in the primary treatment, it can be concluded that most efficient water treatment agents are FC and AS.
