Abstract

The activities of diaminopimelate decarboxylase (DDCase), the last enzyme in lysine production, were examined in some fractions prepared by centrifugation of the homogenate of Entodinium caudatum. The observation by transmission electron microscope and the activity of DDCase of each fraction showed that the enzyme is associated with bacterium-like particles in the endoplasm of the protozoon. The morphological study of these particles by transmission electron microscope revealed that these particles presented in vesicles in the endoplasm and possessed a double membrane.
