Abstract
The crystal of the title compound, 2,2′-bipyridinium trihydrogen-1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate trihydrate, C10H9N2+·C10H5O8-·3H2O, is built of a 2,2′-bipyridinium cation, a trihydrogen-1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate anion and three water molecules. It crystallizes in triclinic, space group P1 with a = 9.6528(15), b = 9.6823(15), c = 12.0799(19)Å, α = 89.625(2), β = 72.672(2), γ = 72.316(2)°, V = 1022.5(3)Å3, Z = 2. Both O-H…O and N-H…O hydrogen bonds were observed in the crystal lattice, which contributes to the stability of the structure.
