Description

Biometrics as discussed in this paper those that can be utilized as individual authentication which are used mainly as a means of informational security. It has a merit that the individual living body itself becomes a "key", without using a tangible key, a password, etc., however, it is information which cannot be changed and a different problem will be occurred from the problem by loss of a tangible key or unlawful use of a password. Since biometrics has the feature of "uniqueness", "universality", and "permanence", it is an important matter to handle biometric data to comply with the data protection law. This paper aims to provide adequate interpretation of the Law for the Protection of Personal Information required for the handling of biometric data.
