Description

Nitrogen dioxide, ozone and formaldehyde, serious air pollutants, were purified on the edge of Sugi wood (Cryptomeria Japonica). The purification ability of the wood was evaluated by an air purification test procedure for photocatalytic materials (JIS R 1701-1 : 2004). The ability of nitrogen dioxide on the edge of Sugi wood was achieved at a level, 4.4-5.4 times higher than that on the surface of cross grain (ITAME). The ability was evaluated to be 74.8% (ozone), 46% (nitrogen dioxide) and 19% (formaldehyde).
