Description
Reactive oxygen species are associated with many inflammatory conditions and tissue damages. Antioxidant agents are used to neutralize the negative impacts of reactive oxygen species. Platinum nanoparticle is a novel antioxidant agent formulated in colloidal solvent (average diameter; 2 nm). It acts as a catalyst and removes all kinds of reactive oxygen species, such as H2O2. In this study, the effect of Platinum nanoparticle on oral epithelial cells was assayed. Platinum nanoparticle inhibited cytotoxicity and IL-8 production induced by H2O2. The results indicated that Platinum nanoparticle has an inhibitory effect for inflammation derived from reactive oxygen species.
