Abstract

New superselective intra-arterial infusion via the superficial temporal artery for oral cancer was developed. As methods of catheterization, a catheter with a curved of the tip and PU catheter were used. There are five types of catheter with curved tips, and one was selected on the basis of preoperative angiography. The catheter with curved tip was inserted superselectively to the feeding artery of the tumor via the superficial temporal artery using a guide wire under fluoroscopic guidance. When catheterization using the catheter with curved tip was not successful, a PU catheter was used. The guide wire was inserted into the peripheral region of the feeding artery of the tumor throughout the curved catheter. The PU catheter was inserted into the peripheral region of the feeding artery of the tumor using a guide wire, after removing the curved catheter.
