This paper presents the results of experiments which were made to investigate a distance sensation of persons with visual impairment especially of totally blind. The distance sensation of the blind will be an important factor to form the information to be given during their walk. At present many kinds of assistive systems for the blind are used and having more sophisticated functions. In near future it will be possible to realize a system which could give adaptive information for characteristics of individual blind persons. From these view points the correlations of the distance sensation in a walking between opposite attributes of blind persons were investigated in this research. In the experiments 27 subjects participated and they walked straightly with target distance of 5, 10 and 20 meters which were given prior to start walking and then the subject will stops when he or she judged by own as completion of the target distance. The results of analysis of this experiments, the groups of blind persons who are walking individually in their daily life and have experience of training for walking indicated better results on the walking characteristics in distance correctness and stability comparing with opposite attributes such as usually walk with escort and no experience of training of walking skills.
