Abstract
Of the different ways that shotcreted slopes deteriorate, propagation of open cracks in the sprayed concrete and downward slides are critical in terms of maintenance. These types of deterioration are considered to be induced by weathering of the ground after shotcreting, resulting in lower adhesion between concrete and ground. This paper discusses the geotechnical and material engineering investigation of the status and mechanism of weathering of ground and deterioration of concrete. The authors also present the guidelines for a method of inspection and maintenance of cut slopes for future use.
