Description
In this study, accumulation characteristics of POPs from sea water to mussel and from fresh water to corbicula, sampled at 22 points in western Japan, were discussed to estimate whether POPs monitoring in water is possible with mussel and corbicula as bioindicators. It was shown that there is a same tendency between the accumulation characteristics of POPs from sea water to mussel, and those from fresh water to corbicula. And an estimate equation was shown, which calculate POPs concentration in water from one in mussel or corbicula, using a multiple correlation among concentration factor of POPs, octanolwater partition coefficient (Kow) and fat content in bivalves.
