Abstract

The mature larva and pupa of Dercas gobrias (Hewitson, 1864) from Borneo (Mt Kinabalu National Park, Sabah) are described and figured. Additional information on habitat preferences, vertical stratification inside the forest, sex ratio and behaviour of the adults is presented. D. gobrias seems to be restricted to the canopy layer of primary rain forest habitats. The taxonomic status of the genus Dercas is briefly discussed in consideration of available information concerning host-plants and early stages.
