Abstract

The wing pattern of the central to northern Honshu populations of Neptis pryeri Butler is analyzed and compared with that of continental specimens from China to Korea. In central to northern Honshu specimens, the postdiscal white band on the underside of the hindwing is relatively narrow, and the submarginal row of white spots on the underside of the hindwing is reduced or disappearing. In these points, the central to northern Honshu populations are well separated from the nominotypical subspecies of N. pryeri from China to Korea.
