Abstract
Applicability study of distributed optical fiber sensors to use long-term monitoring of long-span PC cable-stayed bridge was described. Distributed optical strain and temperature sensors were newly developed for embedding into the pre-stressed concrete (PC) structure. The fundamental characteristics and estimated lifetime were confirmed. Both strain and temperature of the girder were measured by simplex optical fiber measurement equipment. Effectiveness of distributed optical fiber sensor and measurement were introduced as a practical engineering use through the shape analysis of the girder during under construction phase and bridge operation term.
