The purpose of this report was to show a detailed explanation of the sense of usefulness of home economics class through food preparation in senior high school. Based on the investigation before and after food preparation, an analysis of the change of the sense of usefulness and the relationship between the sense of usefulness of the lessou and how plaeasant it was was tried. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. More than 90% of the students recognized the usefulness of food preparation. And after the food preparation, more than 80% of the students showed the change of consciousness, which took a more concrete shape in their intention to apply what they have learned and to practice cooking by themselves. 2. The sense of usefulness the student feels after the experiment is classified into two : the feeling that one has grown in terms of experience and intellectual development, and the feeling that what the student has learned will prove to be of value in the future. 3. The sense of usefulness as self-recognition of experiential development caused different degrees of pleasantness from the others. And this process of "additive effects between usefulness and pleasantness" showed that the degree of pleasantness is controlled by the sense of usefulness.
