Abstract
This study examined the actual conditions of homemaking education in Japanese schools. The results were as follows: 1. In Japanese schools, teachers were comparatively young and did not have long experiences in teaching homemaking as well as to make a special study of homemaking. 2. Generally, teachers estimated that these students in Japanese schools had good study behavior and were interested in homemaking. 3. Within the various limits of teaching, teachers adopted simple exercises and practices into their homemaking lessons. 4. Teachers expected the homemaking teachers in general to make good use of their experiences for returned students. Due to shortage of school hours and equipments, individual guidance is strongly urged.
