In 1993 when Bill Clinton assumed the Presidency, there was no caucus in the Congress to support this New Democrat Administration. Now, the New Democrat Coalition in the House and the Senate New Democrat Coalition are the largest caucuses in U. S. Congress. The movement by the New Democrats started with the establishment of the Democratic Leadership Council in 1985 and was buttressed in 1989 by the formation of the Progressive Policy Institute, their think tank. In 1996, they finally had a political action committee, the New Democrat Network, that was able to financially help the New Democrats get elected.<br>Political Parties in the United States change their political outlook only very gradually, mostly because the party leadership is not given the power to nominate the official party candidates even if a new and different group assumes the leadership position in the party. More often than not, political parties in America change in the long-term as a result of the infiltration or rise of various social and political movements in the party. This is a study on how the rise of the New Democrats through the NDN has changed the Democratic Party in the recent years.
