Description
The classification of the vascular ring was established by Edwards and his associates on the basis of their functioning double aortic arch system. Recently, Idbeis proposed a coded nomenclature as a new form of classification of the vascular ring. However, as many cases have accumulated, the various types of classification and their nomenclatures have been changed, especially with regard to the right aortic arch group.
Although, Inoue's and Garti's classifications of the right aortic arch (RAA) are excellent ones, some cases cannot be defined by these systems.
Therefore, a comprehensive classification subject ot the following conditions is proposed in this paper.
1) Idbeis's classification is introduced as a basic design.
2) The site of the left aortic arch interruption is given four sports according to Garti.
3) In cases of RAA that have an aortic diverticulum, the sign (cS) indicating presence is added at the end of the coded nomenclaute of Idbeis.
Using this method (Idbeis's R.V., ), all cases of vascular ring reported in the literature can be explained clearly according to their anatomical and embryological details.
