Abstract

An existing method for inspection, which employs heat-infrared ray to detect the deteriorated portion of concrete surface makes it difficult to judge the internal conditions of concrete due to insufficiency of solar radiation heat at the job site. This paper discusses a new idea inwhich the surface of a concrete structure is heated artificially, for a specific time, applying the necessary heat source to concrete, for the detection of its internal conditions.<br>By analysing the temperature distribution of the surface of concrete immediately after the interruption of heating, and the temperature changes with cooling time, can be used to determine the internal condition of the structure. Whereas the existing methods can only analyze the surface condition of the concrete, the new method can be used to evaluate the structural members three-dimentionally.
