Description

A 15-year-old boy was seen at the hospital because of right lower abdominal pain and fever up. Surface lymph nodes were not palpable, and leukocyte count was 4, 400/mm3. Abnormal high levels of CRP and LDH were noted. Operation was done doubting appendicitis, but mesenteric lymph nodes swelling were noted without inflammation of appendix. After operation, leukopenia and remitted fever were continued. At 26 post operative day, neck lymph nodes wwelling were appeared, and its biopsy specimen showed histologically necrotizing lymphadenitis. Steroid hormones were efficacy to treatment.<br> Patients with necrotizing lymphadenitis are benign disease with lymphadenitis at neck lymph nodes, fever up and leukopenia. It is necessary to consider the existence of necrotizing lymphadenitis without surface lymph nodes swelling, to diagnose, because mesenteric origin necrotizing lymphadenitis is very rare.
