Description
Whether user-group management is an effective institutional arrangement for managing forests and other natural resources has been widely debated in the literatures. By using field data from the hill region of Nepal, this study attempts to explore the factors that affect the effectiveness of user-group management of forests. We find that the official transfer of forest use rights to user groups enhances their effectiveness of forest management.
