Abstract

We conducted experiments to clarify the method of the creation and the maintaining of habitat for larvae of an endangered tiger beetle on a artifical sandy shore. The experimental area was created to clear the three habitat conditions of larvae in the previous study. We analyzed the seasonal change of the elevation, vegetation and sediment stability of habitat. We found that the following two factors of unsuitability for the habitat on experimental locations. 1)The low elevation and the high frequency of sediment erosion on the sea side. 2)The high elevation and high vegetation on the land side. In addition, the beach torography has affected them. We were able to create suitable habitat for larvae through this study. However, these habitats are maintained only for about three years due to vegetation growth and sedimenntation. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain and manage continuously.
