Abstract
Although the supply of sediment, nutrient and organic matter from inland has a significant role on morphology and water quality in coasts, there is little monitoring data for the material transport. In this study, we present a simplified approach for evaluating material transport from a wide range of land to coastal ocean and apply it to evaluate the material transport into Pacific Ocean from Tohoku and Kanto districts. The results indicate that the present approach with water-quality database under high-flow conditions and non-dimensional L-Q relation can give a good agreement with the observed data, showing the fundamental validity of the present approach. The evaluated bed load indicates that the suspended load was about 6 times bed load transport, of which 99 % were occupied in class A rivers.
