Abstract
In Japan, caisson type structures are frequently used for quay walls and seawalls. In order to prevent the leakage of soil through these caisson's gap, rubber or polyvinyl chloride plate are installed. However, when the wave pressure and the subsequent deformation of these plates are large, the breakage of these plate likely occurs. Since the design method to predict the deformation and the stress due to wave load doesn't exist, a new design method is proposed and examined by hydraulic experiments. Moreover, the repeated tensile load tests are conducted in order to investigate the durability of these materials.
