Abstract

A support program for career decision making was administered in the class of Counseling Psychology. The Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale(CDMSES, Urakami1995) and a Career Plan Questionnaire(CPQ) which included the self-evaluation scale of satisfactory writing were administered at the first and the last session in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. The data of 50 students who participated in at least three out of possible four sessions were analyzed as the experiment group data. The control group data was made up from 43 students of other classes who completed CDMSES twice. 12 of them also answered a CPQ.The CDMSES scores of the experiment group increased significantly whereas the scores of the control group didn't. The self-evaluation scores of satisfactory writing of CPQ of the experiment group also increased significantly whereas the control group scores didn't. These findings indicate the effectiveness of this program. When asked to rate the effectiveness of each program the students of the experiment group whose scores had improved gave high evaluation to programs which required greater effort.
