The aim of this paper is to show the following original contributions of phenomenological sociology to the contemporary sociological social theory.
First of all, phenomenological sociology elucidates the genesis of the social from a viewpoint of the theory of intersubjectivity, or 'genetic interactionism, ' which is suggest-ed by Alfred Schutz. Secondly, it describes some conditions of social constitution. As the third point, it will indicate philosophically and ethically an alternative way to the desirable future social construction.
For this purpose, I discuss in this paper how phenomenological thinking has developed, focusing on such philosophors as Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, and Levinas. This paper is an introductory remark on the development of phenomenological sociol-ogy toward a social theory.
