Abstract

High, standard and low protein diet were supplied to the subjects, who were taken exercise hardly for three weeks and the variation of the resistance of erythrocyte osmotic presure and the level. of haptoglobin were investigated.<BR>The result obtained were as follows:<BR>1) The standard and low protein diet brought sports anemia by erythrocyte destruction with the progress of exercise. Low protein diet the loss of the function of producing erythrocyte was more remarkable. At the period of high protein diet the degree of destruction of erythrocyte was rather low at the initial phase of exercise, but soon the function of producing erythrocyte did actively and rather the increase of erythrocyte was observed following no sports anemia mostly.<BR>2) Examining the value of 50% osmotic hemolysis at the period of low and standard protein diet, the decrease of erythrocyte resistance, at the end of 2nd week of exercise, was remarkable and appeared progressed destruction of erythrocyte. At low protein diet the deficiency of protein brought more destruction of erythrocyte. The erythrocyte resistance was strong in high protein diet. This seems to be depended on high protein diet useful for strengthening the erythrocyte membrance resistance.<BR>3) The lowering of Hb-binding capacity of haptoglobin observed when sports anemia was taken, was remarkable at the period of low and standard protein diet. This indicates that the function of combining free hemoglobin and haptoglobin became active and it also indicates remarkable increase of destruction of erythrocyte caused by exercise. At the initial phase of exercise the lowering, of Hbbinding capacity was observed in some degree, at the period of high protein diet and the destruction of erythrocyte was observed slightly. It was ascertained that when high protein diet was taken the quantity of Hb-binding capacity reached at the begining of the 3nd weed, to the same or rather to higher level with that of the subjects under control and the destruction of erythrocyte caused by exercise is rather repressed than in the period of control.
